Take a Scenic Drive Along the Gatlinburg Parkway

Many people enjoy driving through Gatlinburg to take in the beautiful scenery of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the Gatlinburg Parkway. When you drive through Gatlinburg, you’ll be surrounded by the rolling mountains. If you drive through Gatlinburg at night, you’ll be in the heart of the mountains, surrounded by the twinkling LED Christmas lights. All of the lights in Gatlinburg were recently converted to LED, so they shine brighter and are more efficient for the area. Ride on the Trolley Tour of Lights

The Gatlinburg Trolley Tour of Lights begins with the Gatlinburg Winterfest kickoff on November 12. The rides continue through the end of January with tours taking place at 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. The route takes visitors along the Gatlinburg Parkway to see some of the most popular and most beautiful light displays in the area. Visit Attractions with Views of the Lights in Gatlinburg

Do you want to do more than just drive through the lights in Gatlinburg? This season, go ahead and take an evening to visit a few of the popular attractions in the area, where you can see the holiday lights from above the trees. Gatlinburg Space Needle: The Gatlinburg Space Needle is great if you want a view of the Parkway as well as the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. You can see all the way down the Parkway from the Space Needle, so it’s great for those nighttime panoramic photos. Aerial Tramway at Ober Gatlinburg: The Gatlinburg Aerial Tramway takes guests up to the Ober Gatlinburg resort where you can dine at the Seasons of Ober restaurant as you overlook the Great Smoky Mountains. The Great Smoky Mountain Wheel information: If you want to take a drive into Pigeon Forge, there’s different light displays along the Pigeon Forge Parkway and you can catch a ride on the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel to see the lights shine from the treetops. The Great Smoky Mountain Wheel stands 200 feet tall and features 42 climate controlled gondolas, so you can ride comfortably.
