About Highlands Condominiums

About Us

Our Story

For over 30 years The Highlands have been managed by the husband and wife team of Mike and Cindy Werner. In 1985 Mike was hired by the developers to sell the new construction. Mike set up in the office with a card table, a lawn chair, and a calculator, and was successful in selling all of the units in record time. Each new owner encouraged Mike to start a rental company which he did in 1986. Mike has been a dedicated city council member for 18 years and served as the mayor of Gatlinburg for 8 terms. During football season, you can find Mike behind the microphone at the Gatlinburg-Pittman High School games, providing commentary for his favorite team. His wife, Cindy, is a Tennessee native, a property management expert and a proud mother of three. Coincidentally, Cindy’s father helped build the Gatlinburg Bypass: the main road leading to our condos!

We have travelled across the United States, but we have never found anywhere quite like Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Our roots run deep in Gatlinburg, and there is absolutely nowhere else we would rather live. Running The Highlands has been a dream because it allows us to share the best of our hometown with visitors from all over the world.

Our Philosophy

Building long term relationships with our guest is a priority at Highlands Condominiums. Every year, we look forward to seeing familiar faces walk through our doors, ready to experience the majestic Smoky Mountains.

Young couples often spend their honeymoon at The Highlands and return a few years later for a family vacation, with toddlers in tow. Guests with children of their own frequently tell us that they visited our condos in Gatlinburg with their parents when they were kids. We are truly honored when visitors let us know that The Highlands has become part of their family tradition.

Our Mission

We hope to provide families with the best possible Smoky Mountain vacation experience possible. If you plan on making new memories in the Great Smoky Mountains, we would be thrilled to have your family as our guests.
