When it comes to planning your family vacation, one of the most stressful parts of the days before you leave is deciding what and how much to pack. In order to help you enjoy and maximize your vacation, and to keep as much stress out of the process as possible, here are some things that we have found useful for vacationing in a Gatlinburg condo: (See Also: 5 Reasons You Need to Spend Fall in the Smoky Mountains at Our Gatlinburg Condo Rentals)

Hiking Supplies One of the most popular things to do while on vacation in Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountains is to hike. The natural beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is something that needs to be experienced up close...especially in the fall season! For those who are planning on hiking while on their stay in the area, there are some essentials that you need to have. Sturdy shoes and a light (rain) jacket are always nice to have, especially in the higher elevations during the cooler months of the years. A lightweight backpack is useful for carrying your smaller items (water bottle, snacks, camera, maps, etc..) as you make your way up the trail. Make sure the backpack is big enough to hold your essentials, but not too heavy that it causes unnecessary strain on your back as you climb.

Cooking Supplies Since our Gatlinburg condos have kitchen areas, you might want to consider bringing some cooking supplies with you on your vacation if you plan on preparing a few meals in the condo during your stay. Food and drinks, as well as most cooking supplies, can be purchased at any of the area grocery stores. Our condos come pre-furnished with basic cooking utensils, so you won’t need to worry about bringing or purchasing pots or pans for your vacation.

Attraction Supplies While it might be strange to pack with attractions in mind, it never hurts to be prepared. If you are planning on being out and about most of the day, consider packing some snacks for the little ones in your party. A good backpack can go a long way to making your day better, especially if you are going to Dollywood. Make sure you bring comfortable shoes for your vacation, as nothing lowers the enjoyment of your experience quicker than feet that hurt. There are many items that you may need to consider packing that are specific to your family (medications, foods for special diets, etc). With an abundance of grocery stores and retail stores in the area, there is always a way to get ahold of that key item you forgot. While this is certainly not an exhaustive list of things to pack as you prepare for your next Smoky Mountain vacation, it is a great start to get your family ready for your big trip. As you prepare for your next family vacation, remember that the memories you are going to make are more than worth the stress that comes with packing.
